Top UN official in surprise Burma visit
A senior United Nations (UN) official arrived in Burma on Monday for a five-day visit and was set to meet top members of the nominally civilian administration, according to the UN and government.
Vijay Nambiar, chief of staff to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, “arrived in Yangon [Rangoon] this morning and is going to Naypyidaw to meet government officials”, UN information officer Aye Win told AFP.
A Burmese official said Nambiar would be in the country until 4 November and his meetings included the foreign and home affairs ministers as well as vice-president Tin Aung Myint Oo.
He was also expected to meet democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi in Rangoon, as he did during his last visit in May, when he said recent signals from the new army-backed government were “very encouraging”.

Vijay Nambiar took a call from Times reporter Marie Colvin on the 17th of May 2009 about the wish of Tamil Tiger for surrender.

Burmese Army went to learn how to kill all and finish off the Karen like that from fellow Buddhist (Buddha’s Tooth and all that) Rajapaksa, Sri Lankan President.
Seeing that Wa are roped in to do the dirty work, may be the same method of killing is not adequate.

Burmese malitary governament without uniform is same idea like before.It,s not enough only discusstion with Un but UNSC and NATO otherwise there is no effect.Just weast the time.Who will agree with UN after agreement thi officer becomming change or discharge.
Ban Ki Moon must be fed-up with all the Burmese curries and “ Nga-Pi-Yay “, so for a change he’s sending a vegetarian ( by looking at his name ) who’s going to be sweet-talked, wined and dined and sent off home like his predecessor Gambari. Instead of praising the military rulers in disguise as civilians, the UN once and for all should give some ultimatums and finish this cat and mouse game with Burma.

This time,we’d like to see your real ability whether you can convice U Than Sein’s govt. to release the remaining political prisoners of consciences and amicable solution for the Ehinics people.
We don’t like to read your praising to the dictators only rather the practical positive results.
Just one question what do the accomplish in all visit. They all fall into government trick. May be they accept the bribe instead of doing the job.
What Nambiar is doing there? There was no response from Ban Ki Mon on the KIA letter to him, not even a hint. Does Nambiar come to support this brutal regime’s ethnic cleansing genocidal war?
Tiny Kachins are pounded by WMDs, howlong UN will keep silence. Fail to take actions, reluctant to issue condemnation of such action are indirectly support this brutal monk killer murderous regime.
UN representive come to Burma, UN representitive went back to UN head quarter for report. UN comes again and goes back again for report. It is funnier to watch a dog chasing it’s own tail than reading UN representitive come and go from Burma. What a waste of time and money. Stop BS and do something Ban Ki Moon.
