A legendary Liverpool FC striker last week played the role of ambassador for the English Premier League club in Rangoon, following the announcement that Liverpool had signed a regional partnership agreement with Cobra Energy Drink.
Ian Rush, a prolific Welsh international and Liverpool striker, played for some 15 years with the club during two spells: from 1980 to 1987, and 1988 to 1996. He remains the Reds’ top scorer of all time with 436 goals, and also netted another 28 times for Wales in 73 appearances.
Liverpool FC on Friday announced its new partnership with Cobra, which sees the brand become the official energy drink of the club in Burma. The deal will include a new TV campaign featuring Liverpool players and competitions for fans to win Liverpool merchandise.
“Liverpool FC is one of the most popular football clubs in Myanmar, which is very much a nation of football fanatics,” said Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer at Liverpool.
