A Japanese tourist has been killed in Burma and a motorcycle taxi driver arrested on suspicion of her murder, a government official said on Thursday.

Chiharu Shiramatsu, 31, was killed on Wednesday near Kyaukpadaung, close to the ancient temple city of Bagan, after hiring the motorcycle taxi to go sightseeing, according to the authorities.

“She was killed by a motorcycle taxi driver who tried to rape her,” a Burmese government official who declined to be identified told AFP.

Min Theik, the 39-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, was arrested at the scene.

It is a shame that the Japanese tourist got murdered during the time where Burma is trying to obtain positive image. Min Theik is such a lowlife rapist similar to SPDC Tatmadaw soldiers.

This kind of the rape is happened in Bagan last time was also just a Japanese and later rumours that Victim is willingly persuaded to do so and Young Burmese local tout or so called cheap guide got the long time life sentance by the military court sameday. Now it is happend again just to the Japanese. It is strange and should be investigate properly what is the cause.

Rape is a crime period. The suggestion that a woman could want to be raped is idiotic. Please wake up!… And has nothing to do with any particular race, except for potential economical reasons… It’s a crime to rape a woman!!… Don’t ever try to think any other way!!!…
