Australia police to assess Burma ‘war criminal’
The Australian government said on Monday it would refer claims from a Burmese refugee that he had committed war crimes in his former homeland, including carrying out 24 executions, to the federal police.
In a report carried by the Australian news agency AAP, Htoo Htoo Han said he had been an undercover military intelligence officer in Burma from 1987 to 1992.
He said had shot 24 people in the back of the head during the 1988 anti-government uprising and, as leader of a group which infiltrated the student movement to target and kill protesters, was also implicated in at least 100 further killings.
“I did it, I am a war criminal,” said the 44-year-old father of three, who is now an Australian citizen.
“For so long I have lived like an animal.
“Now I want to release what I carry inside for 20 years. I want to say sorry to the mothers and fathers of the people I killed.”

Now you say or release for what? You had choice not to do at the first place! You can say no… But you had chosen to commit the crime and you did kill those who are innocent !!! Sorry for what? You tell them! Do you think those who kill by you will forgive you?
A person who has committed horrible crime cannot live a normal life forever. A criminal Htoo Htoo Han had committed will haunt him for the rest of his life. I believe Than Shwe and all those Burmese generals won’t be able to sleep from now on after Htoo Htoo Han confessed his crime. By the way, how did Htoo Htoo Han become a Australian citizen? No wonder a lot of former army officers who committed crime and get away with it. UNSC must bring those Burmese generals for justice for the sake of the Burmese people. If China and Russia veto at UNSC again this time that mean China and Russia are guilty as those Burmese generals. China and Russia are always backed up Burma at UNSC to encourage those generals and its followers to commit horrendous crimes.
Doesn’t matter much, their ancestor are criminal, they train the Burmese military police, most of the Burmese military children enjoy the so called Australian education so will it make different?
How come he managed to get into Australia as a refugee ?
I am sure he consulted the lawyers beforehand about the implications before making the statement, and is likely to get away with his crimes.

I can’t read Burmese at all but I’m a community welfare worker in the Burmese community in Melbourne, I have had the unpleasant experience of meeting this guy he is insane. He claimed to me that he is a captain in A.S.I.O and he is a member of the Australian Federal Police. Whatever Htoo Htoo Han claims must be looked at very carefully, he defiantly has some mental health issues.

This idiot Htoo Htoo Han claims he was a Captain in military intelligence in Burma when he was 19 years old in 1988, yes if we do the math this lunatic was too young when he claims he was an officer in the army. Htoo Htoo Han did do about 4 years in prison and he was tortured and from what I have been told he even has a metal plate in his skull, which makes him a victim of Thitsaphout Than Shwe’s inhumanity to the people of Burma. Than Shwe and his regime which is totally rotten to the core is solely responsible for every case of torture rape and murder that has occurred in Burma by his thugs in crime.
Compassion and forgiveness…has he not repented…think he is a brave man who was manipulated by an army and its Generals…better hold them accountable in International War Crimes Tribunal…im Rod Power
Sorry Rod compassion and forgiveness for what, this guy has lied to the media about his past, he has been flying around Australia trying to get support, he had about two people a lot who knew who knows him and that included people who knew him a child know he is lying, he is trying to destroy the democracy movement in Australia.
